Frequently Asked Questions

What is Charge-Check?
Charge-Check is an all-new accessory designed to provide battery overcharge protection for mobile phones and tablets that helps extend the life of a Lithium-ion battery. Most mobile phones and tablets are powered by Lithium-ion batteries that degrade over time when they are overcharged.
How does Charge-Check work?

Charge-Check is designed to extend the life of virtually any mobile phone or tablet battery. It works by protecting the battery from continuing to charge once it approaches 100%. Most people overcharge their phone battery when they plug it in to charge overnight. Even a very low battery will recharge in a few hours. Leaving it plugged in overnight means the battery may continue to trickle charge for several hours. This uses electricity unnecessarily and, over time, it can lead to shortened battery life.

How does Charge-Check connect to my mobile device?
Charge-Check simply connects between your mobile phone or tablet, and the manufacturer provided wall charger. Plug in the phone to charge it – even overnight.
Will Charge-Check extend my daily battery life?
No. Charge-Check will not extend your daily battery usage or power availability, however, Charge-Check is designed to extend the overall life of your battery.
Will Charge-Check work with IOS products?
Charge-Check is compatible with Lithium-ion batteries used in mobile phones and tablets that use a 5V USB charger. Use it with the approved USB charger that came with your phone or tablet.
Can I use Charge-Check with a Quick Charger?
Charge -Check is designed to work with a 5V USB power supply i.e. a wall brick charger. Many of the newer Quick Chargers use a higher voltage and will damage the Charge-Check. Since most people charge their phones overnight, simply use a 5V charger and safely charge with Charge-Check.
Can I turn off the LED on Charge-Check while I am charging my phone?
a.  If you are like most people you plug our phone in to charge the battery overnight.  You might even have your device on a bedside table. If the LED light is bothering you simply put your Charge-Check into Night Mode. In Night Mode the LEDs turn off after 10 to 12 seconds.
b. To activate night mode, click the button 7 times, and then hold the button for at least 10 seconds.
c.  FYI. Day Mode is the manufacturing default.
How do I restore the manufacturer default settings?
a. To restore Default settings,  connect to power and then hold the button for 10 to 12 seconds.
b. When the defaults are restored, the LEDS flash back and forth for a moment.
Can I use Charge-Check with a car adapter?
You can use it with a car adapter as long as it is compatible with a 5V USB charger.
Will Charge-Check interfere with my product warranty?
It should not but, it’s always best to check with your device manufacturer.
What type of mobile devices can Charge-Check connect to?
Charge-Check is compatible with Lithium-ion batteries used in mobile phones and tablets that use a 5V USB charger. Use with the approved USB charger that came with your phone or tablet.
How big is Charge-Check?
Charge-Check is compact and light-weight. It is a bit bigger than the size of a match box and a bit smaller than a package of Tic Tacs. Dimensions: 4.5 X 6.3 X 1.6 cm or 1 ¾ X 2 ½ X 5/8 inches
How much does Charge-Check weigh?
Weight: 20 g or 0.7 oz.
How can Charge-Check save me money?
SAVE MONEY. Using Charge-Check means batteries will last longer, which will improve the lifecycle cost of a phone. The cost of a replacement phone battery can range from $35-150, and even more if the cost of a service person to replace it is added. Charge-Check delivers real value to the life-cycle cost of a phone.
How can Charge-Check help save the environment?
SAVE ELECTRICITY. Charge-Check detects when your phone battery is close to being charged and then it stops any further charging.

ECO-FRIENDLY. When your battery lasts longer it means fewer batteries need to be disposed of. This helps keep excess Lithium-ion batteries out of landfills, and saves on electricity usage. Using Charge-Check means batteries will last longer. Extending the life of phone batteries will reduce the number of them that end up in the trash. Data from Statista indicates that there are approximately 230 million smartphone users in the USA today. Mobile phone manufacturers don’t hide the fact that Lithium-ion batteries begin to deteriorate after about a year. If only 10% of users were to extend their phone life by using Charge-Check today, it would mean approximately 23 million fewer batteries would end up in toxic waste sites.

Why should I buy Charge-Check?
SAVE ELECTRICITY. Charge-Check detects when your phone battery is close to being charged and then it stops any further charging. So, it keeps the charging in check.

HEALTHIER CHARGING. Charge-Check will keep your battery healthy for longer by protecting it from being constantly charged (trickle charged) once it approaches 100%.

What is the difference between Charge-Check and Battery Saver Apps?
Charge-Check is an accessory that will extend the lifespan of your phone or tablet’s Lithium-ion battery by protecting the battery from overcharging. Battery Saver Apps serve a completely different purpose. They do not extend the overall lifetime of a physical battery. Instead, they are designed to help when a phone battery drains quickly between charges. Today’s phones and tablets use a lot of battery draining background services. Even with a new battery, you might only have a few hours of use before the battery needs to be recharged. Battery Saver Apps detect battery draining apps and some suggest fixes. Many of these apps contain advertising.
Is Lithium-ion battery overcharging real or a myth?
The following excerpts from expert sources reinforce the facts that Lithium-ion batteries degrade over time and confirm that overcharging accelerates that process.

https://batteryuniversity.com/index.php/learn/article/how_to_prolong_lithium_based_batteries Lithium-ion suffers from stress when exposed to heat, so does keeping a cell at a high charge voltage. … Exposing the battery to high temperature and dwelling in a full state-of-charge for an extended time can be more stressful than cycling.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lithium-ion_battery#Battery_life

“A lithium-ion battery or Li-ion battery (abbreviated as LIB) is a type of rechargeable battery in which lithium ions move from the negative electrode to the positive electrode during discharge and back when charging…. Over their lifespan, batteries degrade progressively with reduced capacity, cycle life, and safety due to chemical changes to the electrodes… Cycling loss is due to usage and depends on both the maximum state of charge and the depth of discharge. …High charge levels and elevated temperatures (whether from charging or ambient air) hasten capacity loss.”

… If you keep your cells always charged to 100%, you are keeping the materials in a chemical environment where they are less stable, and thus more likely to degrade.

….Another point which can be noted that when your battery is between the level of 90% and 100%, then it produces a corrosive effect which further hampers the battery health. So, it is recommended that your smartphone should stay between these battery levels for as minimum time as it can be as the effect stated above is enhanced by the temperature elevation.
